Do you have questions or concerns about your safety at work?
Health and Safety (JOHS Committee)
- Each worksite has at least one, sometimes two Health and Safety (JOHS Committee) representatives.
- List of site representatives coming soon!
If you have questions that your site rep can’t answer, please connect with our local Chief Shop Steward – Kari Miller.
Staff First Aid
- Each worksite has trained Staff First Aid Attendants.
- Please speak to your direct supervisor to identify who the on-site attendant is.
Driving Students (Reduce the Risk of Violence)
Watch the WorkSafeBC informational video:
CUPE 411’s message to any and all members that are asked to drive students in their personal vehicle is as follows:
- SD 33: Driving Student Guidelines and the Driving Students Process Flow Chart and WorksafeBC all recommend finding an alternative to staff using their personal vehicle. As yourself why.
- Any attempts to force you to drive a student in your own personal vehicle should be responded to as unsafe work.
- Your vehicle is not owned or insured by SD 33, nor is it maintained by red seal mechanics.
- Your vehicle is not outfitted with audio/visual recording devices (SD 33 busses are).
- You have no direct radio contact with a dispatch team.
- You are not a bus driver and have not taken the safe drivers course.
To mitigate personal risk, from unsafe interactions or possible civil lawsuits, CUPE 411 advises against transporting students in your personal vehicle, especially alone.
